Asthma Coaching Can Reduce Hospitalizations In Some Children

Researchers have found that asthma-related hospitalizations among low-income, African-American children can be significantly reduced by working with an asthma coach. The coaches worked with the children's parents, discussing aspects such as triggers, medication, and stressors. Over two years, 36.5% of the coached group were hospitalized at least once, compared with 59% of the usual-care group.
