While this study does not prove that the flu vaccine causes hospitalizations, and absolutely does not discourage anyone from getting the vaccine, it does raise questions since kids with asthma had significantly higher risk of hospitalization. But the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program recommends that kids over 6-months get annual flu vaccines.
