A study on 9-year-olds found that after a period of moderately intense exercise, specifically walking on a treadmill, they had more accurate results on tests. The exercise improved their cognitive control, which is essentially their ability to pay attention. This study has been done in older kids, but it holds true for 9-year-olds too
