Need Answers? Start Dreaming!

Need Answers? Start Dreaming.

Dreams can be one of life's most pleasurable experiences--or they can be one of the most dreaded. For every person who is haunted by nightmares, another has happy dreams that leave them feeling refreshed and renewed. Regardless of the kind of dream, it's not uncommon to wonder what those nighttime visions really mean.

All Dreams Are Not Made Equal
If your dream is very vague and hazy, it's likely not that important. The dreams that hold deeper meaning are usually those that are crystal clear and involve many details. Vivid colors, complex designs and situations, or clear faces are all indications of a dream that matters.

Symbolism in Your Sleep
Dreams have been known to foretell events, warn the dreamer of impending danger, or solve a problem. Sometimes dreams are the person's subconscious way of figuring out a difficult situation.

Occasionally a person who has passed away or has been gone for a long time might appear in dreams; often these are the dreams that fill the dreamer with a sense of well-being and happiness. Dreaming of a ghost is an omen of good luck, but dreams of writing signal deception. A dream about tears is a signal that your life is ready to be cleansed and set anew.

But don't always take dreams at face value; for instance, dreaming of a death can often signify an impending birth.

The Most Common Dreams
You might have experienced a few of the most common dreams at some point in your life. Which one of these have filled your nighttime hours?

  • Floating, flying, or falling
  • Being in danger but unable to speak or move
  • Being naked in front of others
  • Being pushed into danger by an unstoppable force

Keep in mind that these dreams occur for almost anyone at some point, so they might mean nothing at all. The vivid dreams of unusual scenarios are a different story.

Remember Your Dreams!
Do you wake up from a great dream and then forget it in minutes? Retain more of the important memory by keeping a notebook and pen next to the bed. As soon as you wake up, write down what you remember, even if it's just a few key words.

Over time you might find recurring themes in your dreams. Since dreaming about the same thing over and over means your subconscious is trying to tell you something, use a dream dictionary to look up the images and actions in your head. A good night's sleep will be your sweet reward!
