Findings from a three-year study assessing the effects of glasses and contact lenses on the self-perception of 484 nearsighted children aged 8 to 11 years old indicate that contact lenses significantly improve how the children feel about the physical appearance, acceptance among friends, and ability to play sports. Some also felt more confident about the academic performance when wearing contact lenses rather than glasses.
