Michael Holick was asked to resign from his post in Boston University's dermatology department five years ago for promoting "sensible sun exposure" to prevent vitamin D deficiency. He remains an advocate of the benefits of sun exposure and recently diagnosed a case of rickets caused by vitamin D deficiency.
