The cardiac CT angiogram, commonly ordered by doctors to diagnose heart disease, has been found to expose patients to radiation levels equivalent to 600 chest x-rays. The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, was the first of its kind and can help inform both doctors and patients about the risks of radiation.
