Natural aromatic oils, which are often considered less harmful than synthetic perfumes, have been shown by research at the University of Gothenburg to cause contact allergies. Antioxidants in natural oils are commonly believed to protect against the autoxidation that causes allergies, but the research by PhD student Lina Hagvall shows that this is not the case.
