Low HDL (good cholesterol) levels, and high triglyceride levels, elevated blood sugar, high blood pressure, and a large waistline are all indicators of heart disease risk and increase the potential of having heart attacks at younger ages. Statins only help to lower LDL (bad cholesterol) levels and don't have any affect on these other risk factors.
