Babies born to mothers during the 1918-1919 flu pandemic had a 23 percent higher rate of heart disease than those born to mothers not affected by the flu. This is a warning to pregnant women during this swine flu season, since even a mild case of the flu during pregnancy can have lasting affects on the child
