Swedish researchers have discovered that oxidized linalool, a fragrance used in 60 to 80 percent of perfumed hygiene products such as shampoo, is a common allergen that causes eczema. The fragrance has been ranked behind only nickel and cobalt as an eczema-caused substance. Linalool is found naturally in plants such as lavender and mint.
