Iron-Binding Drug Could Help Diabetics Heal Stubborn Wounds

Diabetic patients often suffer poor wound healing, sometimes leading to amputation. Deferoxamine, a drug used to remove iron from the body, could be used to combat the problem after studies in mice showed that it aided healing. Similar results in human tests could lead to new treatment for diabetic patients at risk for infection and amputation.
