The International Agency for Research on Cancer has stated that the use of a snubbed or sunlamp is "carcinogenic to human" whereas it previously stated that their use was "probably carcinogenic to humans." The upgrade puts sun beds on a par with smoking or asbestos exposure and leads campaigners to hope for tighter regulation of sun bed use.
