In response to the risk of patients developing the potentially fatal neurological disease progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), Genetech Inc. has taken the decision to remove the psoriasis drug Raptiva from the U.S. market. Doctors are advised to discuss alternative therapies with patients. The FDA says that prescribers should not initiate new Raptiva treatment.
