Skin cancers are divided into melanoma and nonmelanoma. Melanoma is more serious and more likely to spread. A biopsy can detect skin cancer and its stage. Treatment options include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, biological therapy, and new therapies under development. Prevention measures include protecting the skin from the sun and avoiding exposure between 10 am and 4 pm.
