Researchers at Queens University, Belfast, and the Waterford Institute of Technology have conducted a five year study of the effects of nutritional supplementation with carotenoids on age-related macular degeneration. The study has found that the supplementation preserves the quality of macular pigments, with beneficial effects on visual function.
