Research presented at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology indicates that long-term vision gains can be achieved in patients with age-related macular degeneration by treatment with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor receptors and maintenance therapy with pegaptanib. The findings are good news for patients at risk of vision loss.
