In 2007, 1.1 billion pounds of pumpkins were produced in the United States. California, New York, and Ohio grow lots of pumpkins, but Illinois comes in first place with 542 million pounds.
In 2007, Americans consumed 6,369 million pounds of candy--almost 300 million less than in 2000. That's almost 25 pounds and $60 per person!
In 2007, the National Retail Federation reported that half of consumers surveyed had plans to decorate their homes or yards. That makes Halloween the second-biggest decorating holiday of the year, second only to Christmas.
