Are You the Jealous Type?

Love has many spin-offs. When Cupid's arrow strikes, it often brings with it a potentially troublesome emotion--jealousy. That green-eyed beast, which lies dormant in the darkest reaches of the loving heart, is portrayed in movies, poems, and novels as rearing its ugly head.

Here are some facts on the subject.
• Jealousy is more common among first-born children, who show it more intensely than those born later.
• It is more frequent in smaller families (those with two or three children) than in larger ones.
• It is more likely to occur among girls than boys, is stronger between sisters, and occurs about equally among men and women.
• It is more prevalent in some cultures than others.
