Rigidity is influenced by one's biological makeup. Look at two babies. One may be tense, abrupt in its movements, and fussing for more comfort. The other is placid, adaptable to changes in light and noise levels, and generally content. The babies have different inherited temperaments that affect their personalities. The fussy baby will probably be more rigid in adulthood.
